Nivel de Conocimiento de Métodos Anticonceptivos en Estudiantes Universitarios

Abstract

Introducción: La sexualidad es un tema importante para el desarrollo de los seres humanos; la salud sexual engloba un estado de bienestar físico, mental y social en relación con su práctica y esta considera a la planificación familiar, la cual se logra mediante el uso de los métodos anticonceptivos. Objetivo: Determinar el nivel de conocimiento de los métodos anticonceptivos en estudiantes universitarios. Metodología: Se trata de una investigación transversal descriptiva, realizada en estudiantes de la Facultad de Contaduría y Administración y Bellas Artes en la Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro. El instrumento a utilizar fue tomado de Del Pino, el cual consta de 15 preguntas, con una confiabilidad de 0.7. El tipo de muestreo fue por conveniencia. Los datos se analizaron mediante estadística descriptiva y se cuidaron los principios éticos de la investigación en seres humanos. El proyecto fue evaluado y registrado en la Facultad de Enfermería. Resultados: Se aplicó el instrumento a 132 alumnos, obteniendo los siguientes datos: prevalecieron los estudiantes de 19-22 años con un 72%, el 41.7% fueron hombres y el resto mujeres. Un 49.2% de los participantes refieren que la información vinculada con la sexualidad ha sido proporcionada por un profesional de la salud, señalando que sólo el 27.3% ha recibido la información en la universidad, el resto del fue impartida en otros lugares. Un 47.7% de los alumnos cuentan con pareja. Con respecto a la vida sexual activa manifiestan tenerla el 75.8% de los participantes. El método anticonceptivo más utilizado es el condón masculino con un 59.8%. El 44.7% de los estudiantes señaló que les han ofrecido métodos como las píldoras, inyecciones, condón, parches e implantes transdérmicos. Conclusiones: 71.2% tiene un nivel bajo de conocimientos con respecto a los métodos anticonceptivos, por lo que es importante reforzar dicha información ya que se observa que el 29.5% no utiliza algún método anticonceptivo, el cual genera una conducta de riesgo para un embarazo no deseado o posibles infecciones de transmisión sexual.

Sexual health encompasses a state of physical, mental, and social wellbeing in relation to its practice, and this considers family planning which is achieved using contraceptive methods. Objective: To determine the level of knowledge of contraceptive methods in university students. Methodology: This is a descriptive cross-sectional investigation carried out on students of the Faculty of Accounting and Administration and Fine Arts at the Autonomous University of Querétaro. The instrument to be used was taken from Del Pino, which consists of 15 questions, with a reliability of 0.7. The type of sampling was for convenience. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the ethical principles of research in human beings were observed. The project was evaluated and registered with the Faculty of Nursing. Results: The instrument was applied to 132 students and the following result was obtained: students aged 19-22 prevailed with 72%, 41.7% were men and the rest were women. 49.2% of the participants refer that the information related to sexuality has been provided by a health professional, pointing out that only 27.3% have received the information at the university. The rest of it was given in other places. 47.7% of the students have a partner. With regard to active sexual life, 75.8% of the participants claim to have it. The most used contraceptive method is the male condom with 59.8%. 44.7% of the students indicated that they have been offered methods such as pills, injections, condoms, patches, and transdermal implants. Conclusions: 71.2% have a limited knowledge regarding contraceptive methods. Therefore, it is important to reinforce this information since it is observed that 29.5% do not use any contraceptive method, which leads to the risk of unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.
